İncirli Şaraphane, ismini bahçesindeki incir ağacından almış.

Kuruçeşme’ de 3 katlı binanın 1. katında yer alıyor.

Loş bir aydınlatması var, masalarda ise ayaklı kırmızı mumlu şamdanlar..

Mekanın iki büyük duvarı tamamen şarap rafları ile dizayn edilmiş, her markaya özel bir bölüm ayrılmış. Türkiye’ deki bilinen tüm markalar var. Doluca, Kayra, Sevilen, Vinkara, Urla, Mon Reve aklımda kalanlar.. Markaların tanıtıcı broşürlerini bölümlere geldiğinizde bulabiliyorsunuz. İhtiyacınız olursa, yardımcı olmak üzere garsonlar hemen yanınızda..

500’e yakın şarabı şişede, 100’e yakın butik şarabı kadehte alabiliyorsunuz. Dileyenler için 6lı tadım menüleri de mevcut.

İncirli Şaraphane’ nin en önemli özelliklerinden birisi de fiyat stratejisi. Şarapları market fiyatında satın alıp içebiliyorsunuz. Dilerseniz menüden şarküteri ürünleri ya da yemek de seçilebiliyor.

Binanın 2. Katında Ege mutfağı ile Kydonia, 3.katında Akdeniz mutfağı La Mancha isimli restoranlar yer alıyor.  Hepsi aynı işletmeye ait olduğundan, buradan şarabınızı seçip, servis ücreti karşılığında üst katlardaki restoranlarda içebiliyorsunuz.

Cumartesi akşamını burada geçirdik ve çok keyif aldık.

Tiny Village Sirince

Şirince (“cutish”) is a tiny and cute village, just as its name, at a distance of 15km to Kuşadası and 7km to Selçuk, with houses, boarding houses, boutique hotels, restaurants and wine houses built on the foot of the mountain..

From the numerous stories told about the foundation of the village, the most known are; it has been founded by the citizens of Ephesus fleeing the invasion by the Aydinogullari; another one is that a group of people freed by their feudal lord have established this village and have named it “ÇİRKİNCE” (uglyish) in order to prevent others from coming there, while the third one is that forty slaves, again freed by the feudal lord, have established the village and named it “KIRKINCA” (fortyish).

We park our car as soon as we arrive at the village square and start to stroll along the narrow streets. Most of the 2-3 stories village homes have been transformed into cute boarding houses. When you pass through the garden gate, you either have to go down to the yard below or

                                             go up to the yard above by the stairs.

We move a little further and meet aunties who have opened 2 stalls in front of 2 homes facing each other. They are selling jams, pickles, tarhana, dried aubergines, dried peppers and fortune flowers, and in the meantime continue with their chatting and embroidery.. Besides the stalls in between the streets, there also is a market on the village square. It is possible to find a wide variety of products from different types of natural soaps, to gauze garments; from olive oil to wine varieties.

Cherry, black mulberry, peach, melon, pear, strawberry, pomegranate, blackberry are only a few of the numerous fruit wines produced in Şirince, that come to my mind right away. You may taste all of them and buy the ones you like..

Walking ahead, we reach the St. John Baptist Orthodox Church at the top of the village, that fascinates us with its panoramic view. As a matter of fact, I got the stories on the foundation of the Şirince village, from the information panel available at the church’s entrance.

Options for food are plenty..  We pick the Artemis Restaurant at the entrance of the village, which has a view of all the village houses on the foot of the mountain. Accompanied by Müzeyyen Senar’s voice (Turkish singer), we enjoy the sunset at our table decked out with the regional food, beneath the olive and pine trees.

We are among those who visit the Şirince village every 2-3 years.. In case you happen to pass by the İzmir-Kuşadası-Selçuk environs, I strongly recommend you to visit Şirince also..

* As soon as you take the Şirince turn, you start to see tiny boarding houses, picnic areas, and people selling bits and pieces. You may find fragrant peaches freshly picked from the orchards, deep red tomatoes, and stringed peppers for the winter..

* Some streets are so narrow that a foreign tourist who wanted to go up by his car by mistake had to make numerous maneuvers in order to turn his car around. It is best to park your car at the village entrance..

Borusan Contemporary: Art In the Office!

We decide to meet with a friend, whom I have not been able to see for a long time, over the weekend. And I say, “Let’s make a change this time and go the “Perili Köşk” before chatting.”

The “Perili Köşk” (Haunted Mansion) dates back to the 1910’s, and belongs to Borusan Holding since May 2002. And starting with September 2011, it is being used as a contemporary art museum open to the public over the weekends, while it is used as office during the week.

According to some, the name “Perili Köşk” comes from the howling sound from the vacant stories during construction which took a long time, and according to others, from a girl – as beautiful as a fairy – who had once lived in the building and lost her life there.

We are lucky, our free of charge guided tour starts within 10 minutes.  

The display of the collection, comprised of more than 600 items belonging to Borusan Holding, is being changed in 3 months intervals in order for the guests to be able to see all of them. Our guide informs us beforehand, we are not allowed to take photos of these pieces.

The offices, meeting rooms, recreation rooms, corridors, stairs, terrace, in short, all areas in the building have been utilized for the exhibition. We see a different masterpiece everywhere.

For example, the wall papers we see in the corridors have been made especially for Borusan Holding. The company’s symbol – pipes have been used as the pattern. It is used at all stories in the building and leaves a sense of infinity on the observer.

The tower shaped room on the terrace, which we can also see from the outside, used to be utilized for lookout purposes in the past. Starting with Borusan, it has begun to be used as the coffee room of the managers. Artist Ekrem Yalçındağ has designed the room with over 12 hues of the color of the coffee bean.

 In the collection, we see a kinetic sculpture that has 2 solar panels on it. These panels use the sunlight and the spotlights and help the sculpture to generate energy, and this generated energy is used to strike the strings of the instrument at the bottom of the sculpture that looks like the “saz”. Depending on the energy that has been accumulated, it is possible to hear a sound once in 20 to 30 minutes. In that sense, what we see is actually a functional sculpture.

Another work is the “Sketch Mirror” developed by special software and a digital screen. When you stand in front of it, it transforms your image into a sketch drawing. The artist has aimed to make an interactive study that includes its viewer.  

Just as we are listening to our guide about this piece, a group of children arrive together with 2 instructors. The instructors are raising questions in order to help children in establishing an association with contemporary art. The Sketch Mirror attracts the children’s attention a lot. Each one goes from shape to shape in order to be seen on the screen. We watch them for a while, and then move on.

The video performance titled “56 Tiny Helicopters” was just about to end when we entered the room; it started again in a short while. The toy helicopters in the room are lined in a certain pattern. Then all of them start trying to move simultaneously, some take off at once, some try and remain on the ground. But at the end, all of them use up their batteries, and scatter around different parts of the room. This study may be interpreted as life. And since we are watching it at the Holding building, it may also be thought of as the chaos in work life. 

In addition, there also are temporary exhibitions performed within the scope of the collection and changed at 3 months’’ intervals. We got the chance to see the exhibition of the Austrian artist, Brigitte Kowanz titled “Cut A Long Story Short”.

In her piece titled “Makes Sense”, all lines stand for a letter in the Morse alphabet. The title of the work is also seen in the work. In another piece, “Cut A Long Story Short” is written in Neon lights and the Morse alphabet.

The bottom part of the work titled “Magic of Space” is designed in steel. As you turn around the piece, you observe a different diffraction, a different shadow from each angle. The artist points out to the fact that the piece evolves into a work of art through our observation.

Another piece where the complete Morse alphabet is seen is interpreted as a study leaving one hanging in between the virtual and reality.

The Borusan Holding “Perili Köşk” building has a fabulous view at Rumelihisarı. When we go up to the sightseeing terrace, just as most of the visitors in the tour, we take lots of photos with the fantastic blue of the Bosphorus at the background. At the same time, it is possible to take a breather at the café on the first floor and enjoy the deep blue.

 

At the end of our tour, I am delighted when my friend says; "Borusan fortunately has acquired this building and transformed it into a museum. We are able to experience this historical building, and visit this fabulous museum. "

Borusan Contemporary: Ofiste Sanat Var!

Uzun zamandır görüşemediğim, çok sevdiğim bir arkadaşımla hafta sonu buluşmaya karar veriyoruz. Hadi bu sefer bir değişiklik yapalım, sohbet öncesinde “Perili Köşk” e gidelim diyorum.

Tarihi 1910lu yıllara dayanan “Perili Köşk”, Mayıs 2002’ den bu yana Borusan Holding’ e ait. Eylül 2011 den beri ise, hafta içleri ofis olarak kullanılırken, hafta sonları ziyarete açık çağdaş sanat müzesi olarak kullanılıyor.

“Perili Köşk” ismi, kimine göre uzun süren inşaat esnasında boş kalan katların çıkardığı uğultudan, kimine göre ise zamanında bu binada yaşayan ve yine burada hayatını kaybeden peri gibi güzel bir kızdan geliyor.

Şanslıyız, ücretsiz rehberli turumuz 10 dakika sonra başlıyor.  

Borusan Holding’ e ait 600’ den fazla parçadan oluşan koleksiyon, ziyaretçilerin tamamını görebilmeleri için 3 aylık periyodlarla değiştiriliyormuş. Rehberimiz baştan bizleri bilgilendiriyor, bu eserlerin fotoğraflarını çekmemize izin yok.

Binadaki ofisler, toplantı odaları, dinlenme salonları, koridorlar, merdivenler, teras, kısacası tüm alanlar sergi için değerlendirilmiş. Her yerde farklı bir eser görüyoruz.

Örneğin, koridorlarda gördüğümüz duvar kağıtları, Borusan Holding için özel olarak yaptırılmış. Desen olarak firmanın simgesi borular seçilmiş. Tüm binanın katlarında var ve izleyiciye sonsuzluk hissi veriyor.

Dışarıdan da gördüğümüz, teras katındaki kule şeklindeki oda, daha evvel gözetleme için kullanılıyormuş. Borusan ile birlikte, yöneticilerin kahve odası olarak kullanılmaya başlanmış. Sanatçı Ekrem Yalçındağ, kahve çekirdeğinin 12’  den fazla renk tonu ile odayı dizayn etmiş.

Koleksiyonda, üzerinde 2 adet solar panelin olduğu kinetik bir heykel görüyoruz. Bu paneller güneşin ışığından ve spot ışıklarından faydalanarak, heykelin enerji üretmesinde yardımcı oluyorlar ve oluşan enerji ile heykelin alt kısmında bulunan ve saza benzeyen çalgının tellerine vurularak ses çıkartılıyor. Toplanan enerjiye bağlı olarak 20 ile 30 dakikada bir ses duyabilmek mümkün. Bu anlamda, gördüğümüz aslında fonksiyonel bir heykel.

Bir başka eser, özel bir programlama ve kamera ile oluşturulmuş olan “Eskiz Aynası”. Karşısına geçtiğinizde, görüntünüzü eskiz resime çeviriyor. Sanatçı, seyircisini de içine katan interaktif bir çalışma yapmayı hedeflemiş.  

Tam da bu eseri rehberimizden dinlerken 2 eğitmeni ile birlikte çocuklardan oluşan bir grup geliyor. Eğitmenler, çocukların çağdaş sanatla ilişki kurabilmeleri için sorular yöneltiyorlar. Eskiz Aynası, çocukların ilgisini çok çekiyor. Her biri ekranda gözükebilmek için şekilden şekile giriyorlar. Bir süre onları izliyoruz, sonra devam ediyoruz.

“56 Küçük Helikopter” adlı video çalışması, biz odaya geldiğimizde bitmek üzereydi, bir süre sonra yeniden başladı. Bir oda içerisinde bulunan oyuncak helikopterler belli bir düzen ile dizilmiş halde duruyorlar. Hepsi aynı anda harekete geçmeye çalışıyor, kimisi anında havalanıyor, kimisi çaba sarf ediyor, ama yerde kalıyor. Ama sonunda, hepsinin pilleri bitiyor ve odanın farklı taraflarına saçılıyorlar. Çalışma hayat olarak yorumlanabilir. Holding binasında seyrettiğimiz için de iş hayatındaki kaos olarak da düşünülebilir. 

Bununla birlikte, koleksiyon çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilen ve yine 3 ayda bir değişen geçici sergiler de var. Biz, Avusturyalı sanatçı Brigitte Kowanz’ a ait Uzun Sözün Kısası ( Cut A Long Story Short” ) adlı sergiyi görme fırsatına eriştik.

“Akla Yatkın” isimli eserinde, bütün çizgiler mors alfabesinde bir harfe işaret ediyor. Sanat eserinin ismi, aynı zamanda sanat eserinin içerisinde görülmektedir. Bir başka eserinde, Neon ışıklarla ve Mors alfabesiyle “Cut A Long Story Short” yazılmış.

“Açıklığın Büyüsü” eserinin, alt kısmı çelik olarak dizayn edilmiş. Eserin etrafında dönüş yaptığınız zaman her açıdan farklı bir kırılma, gölge gözüküyor. Sanatçı, eserin, bizim gözlemimizle sanat eserine dönüştüğünü belirtiyor.

Mors alfabesinin tamamının gözüktüğü bir başka eser ise, sanal ile gerçeklik arasında bırakan bir çalışma olarak yorumlanıyor.

Borusan Holding “Perili Köşk” binası, Rumelihisarı’ nda muhteşem bir manzaraya sahip. Gezi esnasında, teras katına çıktığımızda, tura katılan birçok misafir gibi biz de, Boğaz’ ın muhteşem maviliğini arkamıza alarak bir sürü fotoğraf çekiyoruz. Aynı zamanda, birinci katta yer alan kafesinde de soluklanmak, mavinin keyfini çıkarmak mümkün.

Gezimizin sonunda arkadaşım; "Borusan iyi ki bu binayı almış ve müze haline getirmiş. Bu tarihi binayı yaşayabiliyor, bu güzel müzeyi gezebiliyoruz. " dediğinde çok mutlu oluyorum. Tüm sanatseverlere tavsiye ederim.
